Imagine a cool autumn evening. The kids gather wood for the fire pit while the parents prepare snacks inside. As the sun sets, the family gathers around the wood-burning fire pit, where they tell stories, toast marshmallows, and laugh together under the starry sky. Later, they transition to the gas fire pit for a cozy and warm finish to the evening.

By incorporating a thoughtful mix of relaxation and activity spaces, this outdoor living area achieves the Smith family’s goal of creating an inviting, functional extension of their home—a space where family connections grow and cherished memories are made.

Client Vision and Goals:

The Sunset Paradise family, owners of a newly constructed home on a blank canvas lot, approached us to create a dynamic outdoor living space that would expand their home’s usable square footage while fostering quality family time outdoors. Their primary goal was to encourage their children to disconnect from their devices and engage with nature, creating opportunities for long-lasting memories as a family.

Two Fire Pits for Year-Round Enjoyment:

A gas fire pit for convenience, perfect for quick evening gatherings or when entertaining guests.

A wood-burning fire pit, offering a traditional campfire experience for roasting marshmallows and enjoying the crackling of natural flames.

Hardscape Details:

Unilock Umbriano Pavers form the primary surface of the patio, chosen for their sleek, contemporary finish and exceptional durability.

Unilock Rivercrest Walls are used for seating walls and as an accent to define the space, adding texture and dimension.

Landscape Enhancements:

Strategically placed landscape lighting highlights pathways, accentuates key design elements, and ensures safe navigation at night.

Decorative slate rock fills the garden beds, offering low-maintenance beauty while complementing the modern aesthetic of the hardscapes.

Family-Focused Features:

An open patio area provides ample room for outdoor dining, lounging, or even a game of cornhole.

Flexible seating options near the fire pits ensure everyone has a spot to relax and connect.
